Why switch to solar water pumping?

In farming regions such as Souss-Massa or Al Haouz, drought has lowered the level of many aquifers: water must be pumped from deeper and for longer. With a fuel-powered pump, every hour of pumping costs fuel, trips and maintenance.

A solar pumping station has no fuel cost: once installed, it mainly needs panel cleaning and regular checks. It runs silently, without fumes, and can be monitored remotely depending on the equipment.

How does a solar pumping station work?

• The solar array generates electricity, mounted on a fixed or adjustable ground structure.
• The pump drive (solar pump inverter) constantly adjusts pump speed to the available sunlight and protects the motor (dry running, overvoltage).
• The pump — submersible in a borehole, or a surface pump for a shallow well or reservoir — lifts the water.
• The reservoir or tank stores water pumped during the day: it is the system’s natural “battery”, often more economical than electrical batteries.

Sizing that starts from your water needs

Unlike a rooftop system, a pumping system is not sized from an electricity bill but from water: how much per day, from what depth, over what distance and up to what height? That is why every pumping project is priced on quote, after a site visit.

What we measure on site

• Borehole depth and dynamic water level
• Available flow rate and required flow rate
• Height and distance to the reservoir or irrigation network
• Irrigation type (drip, sprinkler, flood) and crops
• Existing pump and equipment that can be kept

Hybrid systems and reliable water supply

For needs that cannot wait for the sun, the station can be hybrid: connected to the grid or paired with an existing generator, with automatic switchover. Drip irrigation, which is very water-efficient, is a particularly good match for solar pumping.
